Hello Nursing Students!

State Convention is coming up October 22-24 in a beautiful beachside hotel/resort in Daytona Beach.

I want to encourage as many students as possible to come with us. It's a great opportunity to network with possible employers and graduate schools, meet other nursing students from across the state, and make an actual difference in nursing and nursing education policy.

We only have 9 delegate slots (but we can take 12 students or more total). What a delegate gets to do is sit in on the FNSA legislative body meeting and take part in passing or shouting down resolutions that then get presented to our Sate Legislators in Tallahassee or even Washington D.C.. It's pretty exciting and a really great experience (might look good on a resume too?).

There are lots of fun and interesting sessions that go on at convention. One example is a forensic nurse specialist will be presenting what that role is like and what it takes to have that specialty.

The cost to attend is $45. UNF SNA will be paying the other $90 that it will cost per student to attend, so it's actually a great deal!

If you are interested in coming, please email Michelle Brooks with your name, phone number, email address, and NSNA membership number (if you remember/have it, if you don't have it let me know).

Please let me know as soon as possible, Friday (10/16) is the end of registration. After you let me know, contact your teacher and he/she will likely work with you on making up assignments or taking tests a day or 2 early.

I can't wait to hear from you! This is going to be a great convention.

Brooks College of Health Olympics

Florida Nursing Students Association Convention

This is the annual State Convention. This year it will be held at the Hilton Daytona Beach Resort/Ocean Walk Village from October 22nd- 24th, 2009. This is the biggest event of the Fall semester! Details will be explained further at the meetings.

Any SNA member who wants to go to convention is welcome to come with us. However, there is a limited quantity of delegate seats so members who have been more active will be the first choice as delegates.

If you want to come you MUST talk to your instructors about any tests or assignments that are scheduled for these dates. The faculty understand how important this event is, and are willing to work with students who give them reasonable notice. (Some teachers even give a little extra credit to students who participate).

The SNA store will be back up soon. We are working to streamline the ordering process and ensure expedited delivery of purchased items.

Fund Raising

Recycling Fundraiser

UNF SNA is doing a painless fundraiser this year. As you might have guessed, our stocked refrigerator doesn’t actually generate the kind of funds needed to run UNF SNA (Snacks at multiple events, partial cost of Convention attendance, activities like BCH Olympics and philanthropies we don’t fund-raise for specifically).

There is a box in the 3rd floor Student Lounge where you can drop off old cell phones and the chargers that came with them as well as used up ink cartridges of all kinds. We will send these unwanted electronics away to be recycled and in return we get a little cash for our organization! You can feel a little better about printing out ALL THOSE lecture slides, we get to be a little greener, and SNA gets a little more money to spend on YOU! Everyone wins!
